On June 30, the first batch of converter valves for the ±600kV/2610A HVDC transmission refurbishment project of Itaipu in Brazil successfully passed FAT. They are now ready to be shipped to the project site in Brazil.
The Itaipu HVDC refurbishment project in Brazil is China’s first overseas HVDC converter valve refurbishment project. It also marks the second overseas deployment of the converter valve "intelligently manufactured" by NARI, following its successful use in the landmark "Belt and Road" initiative project, the Belo Monte project in Brazil.
NARI meticulously planned each phase of the project to ensure efficient implementation. Under the joint witness of relevant personnel from Brazil’s FURNAS Power Company and experts from SGCC, the first batch of converter valve products successfully passed the insulation type test, operational type test, and routine factory tests on June 27.
